De wasserij was meer dan 75 jaar lang een begrip in de buurt. Het  complex reikte van de Ferdinand Coosemansstraat tot de Eikelstraat, met  onder andere een zelfwasserij, een droogkuis, een reinigingssupermarkt  en een strijkdienst. In 2011 sloot de wasserij de deuren, na lange leegstand (6 jaar)   heeft het gebouw met Kunsthal Extra City met tijdelijke bestemming gevonden, met tentoonstellingsruimten, ateliers, een cinema  en een café.  Bodemsanering (militair hospitaal gebeurt het terwijl).

een ontwerp van Neutelings Riedijk Architecten
1998 beslist door het schepencollege van Antwerpen  
collecties van het Volkskundemuseum, het Nationaal Scheepvaartmuseum, het Steen,  Vleeshuis, Etnografisch  Museum Antwerpen en de Collectie Janssen.
Het college gaf in 2003 AG Vespa de opdracht om de taak van gedelegeerd bouwheerschap op zich te nemen.
In september 2006 werd de eerste steen gelegd

In computing, syslog is a standard for message logging. It is a  logfile that records either events that occur in the operating/distribution system.  Logging is the act of keeping a log. In the simplest case, messages are written to a single logfile. The syslog is used for system management and  security auditing as well as general informational, analysis, and  debugging messages. A wide variety of devices, such as printers,  routers, and message receivers across many platforms use the syslog  standard. This permits the consolidation of logging data from different  types of systems in a central repository.
