... thinking about my past and interpunctation is thinking about my grandfather (arcadio ruiz franco), who was a trade leader of typograph workers in the 1940s in guatemala, in the first democratic and social revolution after 2nd world war in latinamerica. he wrote a book (hambre y miseria. fermentos de lucha), nearly oral history, about the day to day struggle of the workers in this political change. a very nice old book. after then years a coup d'état (with the colaboration of the cia/usa) finished this democratic and social spring in guatemala (1944-1954). i think it can be interesant to work with his book, to make a poster about or another kind of work.

NG

  verb:adventure
tags:ADVENTURE --EXPLORATION--AUTONOMY -- DREAM--

NG continues a nomadic artistic project which brings her from residence to residence, experimenting with modes of collective habitats as well as architectural prototypes, and testing all kinds of spaces, lifestyles, situations. To be an artist is an adventure, art is speech. NG draws, from her readings on botanical research in Amazonia the conclusion that the world is unknown, that all is to be discovered, to be explored. Each project - soundtrack, video, drawing, data base, performance - is a personal expedition, to meet people, places, specific contexts, new tools. During her latest research, which have pushed her to meet Yona Freedman, NG questions our modes of living. Her auto-fictions show (video, photo, drawing) or tell about (text, blog, soundtrack, performance) the artist seeking her place in utopian architecture, projecting herself in another space-time: from the Bubble House of Antti Lovag in Nice to the VDS House of Neutra or the Freeman House of Frank Lloyd Wright in Los Angeles.

''I propose a discussion around questions we have in common ---"mirror" as you said my own exploration about utopia (through the exploration of architecture ideas and way of life--) also the question of exhibition in relation with research process-- I will show some visuals about my work too''

When Marthe participated in "With With: Everything but an Artist Talk" she made a performance take place at Shedhalle Zürichinvolving all the audience. She prepared a lot of objects, some everyday objects, others she actually produced for that evening. One of the objects, curved out of wood, I kept. I still have it and will bring it with me to Kasterlee. I would like to find out more about the object by talking about it to the people present at Frans Masereel Center. I will cut this talk into a small "sound-object", which could be broadcaste. Out of the object-descriptions I will take some lines and make a printed sheet with some words and maybe again involving the object itselfes.
