Lulu: Marta Ojrzynska
based on Wrank Wedekind's play in Micha³ Borczuch's adaptation.

'Lucie Mad' and 'Lulu' are two works from the archive of female roles.
In this project I put on my workshop the popular plays to analyze, re-build and re-act the female characters.
'Lulu' is a video drama based on Frank Wedekind's play in Micha³ Borczuch's adaptation.
Another piece that deals with the issue of social conventions and the oppression of conceptions.
Lulu is a chameleon woman, raised to be ready to change herself for any kind of relationship, taking such a form as men want to give her, following every dream and image of a woman they have, but - despite all these dependencies - fatal woman, strong in her whippiness. In the video version of the play she is alone on the stage, rehearsing dialogs, emotions and gestures. If there is any independent essence of her character, we try to pin it down.
But actually,
The fatal strength of her character is based on an ideal adjustment to changing demands and conventions, which don't live up to the ideal realisation and in the time of fulfillment (revealing limitations and inflation of conceptions) destroy one another. Lulu is a mirror, but the mirror of Basilisk (a legendary creature killing people with its horrifying glance, finally defeated when shown its own reflection in the mirror).
That, of course leads also to destruction and utter exhaustion of the ideal Medium. In the play the society is liberated from Lulu by the "breaker" of the social agreement - a serial killer, in the film the question of Lulu remains unresolved.
