The workshops of whistling
A project realised with foundation 36,6 during non-doing workshops in Health and Safety exhibition, Art Institut Wyspa, Gdansk, in the area of the former Gdansk Shipyard, 2004
The project concerned the matter of enthusiasm of work, enthusiasm required and created during building of a new, better socialist reality and enthusiasm and joy similarly suggested inside many woderful companies.
The project was inspired by a song 'Whistle like a bird while working' by a polish group Vox from 1982.The project was accompanied by a series of posters - socialrealistic posters worshiping labour mixed with original ones exposed on the exihibition. A CD recording was also created, functioning as a background for the exhibition. It was composed of the fragments of a common whisteling motives taken from socialistic polish movies and others (as 'The Bridge on River Quai'), the song 'Whistle like a bird while working' and various kinds of bird's whisteling. Workshpos of whisteling also took place, featuring workers of the shipyard and other interested people. Moreover, a competition on creating a new safety regulations sign - whistle command - has been organized.
